DESCRIPTION:Joint Member Meeting\nWHERE: Mercure Glasgow City Hotel\nWHEN: Saturday July 14th\, 11.30am-4.30pm \nThe Scottish Infected Blood Forum and Haemophilia Scotland are jointly hosting a member campaign meeting to discuss the Clinical Review Group’s report on annual support payments for stage 1’s (chronically infected) and the latest information regarding the UK Public Inquiry. The meeting will be lengthy to allow in depth updates and discussions to take place. \nWe will have the Chair of the Clinical Review Group\, Professor Goldberg\, as a guest speaker to discuss the Clinical Review Group’s report to Scottish Government and to take your questions. \nWe will also have the Secretary to the UK Infected Blood Inquiry attending\, to give affected people in Scotland up to date information and an opportunity to ask questions. \nThis will be a very important meeting to attend and we urge all members and those affected by the contaminated blood disaster to attend if at all possible. \nA light lunch will be provided\, but only for those who register in advance. SUMMARY:New Scottish Parliament - Opening ceremony
DESCRIPTION:  \nHer Majesty The Queen is to address the new session of the Scottish Parliament on Saturday 2nd July\, it has been announced.  \nThe Fifth Session of the Scottish Parliament (2016-2021) will be marked on 2 July in a ceremony and day of events that will continue the Scottish tradition of bringing together the people\, the Parliament and Her Majesty The Queen. \n\nThe day will commence with a procession of the Crown of Scotland down the Royal Mile to Holyrood. \nAn address by her Majesty The Queen to Members of the Scottish Parliament and invited guests will follow in the Debating Chamber. \nAnd a ‘riding’ down the Royal Mile to Holyrood will take place\, continuing the centuries-old Scots tradition of the people processing to the Parliament.  The Session Five Riding will involve around 2\,000 people\, selected to highlight achievements across every constituency and region in Scotland. \nIn the afternoon the Scottish Parliament will open its doors to guests and members of the public with an open afternoon of Scottish culture\, music\, dance and drama. \nPresiding Officer the Rt Hon Tricia Marwick said: \n“As we look beyond the coming election to the start of the Fifth Session of the Scottish Parliament\, it is right that\, once again\, the people of Scotland are placed at the heart our events. \n“For a young\, modern parliament we are fortunate to have centuries of culture and tradition to draw upon as we bring together the people\, the Parliament and Her Majesty The Queen.” \nBackground \nFurther details of the programme will be announced in May after the election. \nParliamentary timetable \nThe current five-year parliamentary session draws to a close at midnight on Wednesday 23 March and ‘dissolution’ begins immediately thereafter on Thursday 24 March 2016. \nUnder Parliament’s Standing Orders and following consultation with party leaders\, the Presiding Officer has announced the first meeting of the new parliamentary session will be on Thursday 12 May 2016. \nAs with previous sessions\, an ecumenical ‘Kirking of the Parliament’ will take place on the eve of the first sitting of the new Parliament.  Session Five’s kirking will be held on Wednesday 11 May in St Giles’ Cathedral. \nHer Majesty the Queen will address the Fifth Session of the Scottish Parliament on Saturday 2 July\, during Royal Week in Scotland. \nMedia access details will be announced after the election.

DESCRIPTION:Background \nHepatitis Scotland\, in partnership with the MRC – University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research (CVR)\, are offering a unique experience for people diagnosed with hepatitis C. \nAs part of the Medical Research Council’s (MRC) Festival of Medical Research\, they would like to offer the opportunity to meet with some of the world-leading researchers working on hepatitis C research in Glasgow. \nGlasgow has played a key role in virus research since the 1940s and the CVR has an incredibly dedicated team who devote their careers to researching hepatitis C Virus. The researchers would like to share their knowledge by inviting you to join them at their research centre. \nThe CVR’s expert scientists will take you on the path of a blood sample during an exclusive tour of the CVR’s world-class research facilities.
