The Forum is holding a Member Meeting :
We will be discussing the recently announced changes to the financial supports available from the Scottish Government’s support scheme affecting chronically infected people (i.e. at ‘stage 1’) and their widowed spouses/partners, the latest updates around the UK Public Inquiry, HCV treatments and psychological supports.
We would urge all members to attend this meeting if they possibly can.

The letter that came out from the SIBSS Scottish Government support scheme for Stage 1/Chronic folks to apply for payments needs to be challenged. I know our guys tried to influence the content, but some of the statements beggar belief. Who are these people that say it is a moderate detriment to forego a serious relationship or any career advancement? Probably the same ones who leave a widow at Stage 1 because obviously death is not enough of a detriment to justify Stage 2 support. And who in their right mind gives credibility to a scheme with no figures attached? It is not about how much is in someone’s spreadsheet based on a projected estimate of spend three years ago. This is about limited life and ultimate death. When will they get it into their hard heads and cold hearts that this is the wrong way to go about it?
No need for any letter at all
Just an early excuse to soften the blow
Limited budget – Disgraceful
